Latha Christie was born in Palayamkottai in Tamilnadu, India, as the first of seven children. She completed her schooling from St. Ignatius Convent Higher Secondary School, Palayamkottai. Besides schooling, she learnt classical dance, music, and other languages. She ardently believes that her mother’s prayers and father’s guidance set the stage right for a successful education and efficacious career in her life and that of her siblings. However, being brought up in an overprotective and conservative environment made her a naive person with low selfesteem. She completed her engineering in Electronics and Communication with honors from the Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli.
Teach your children to pursue truth rather than earthly gifts
Entangled in the busyness of life, never lose people who really matter
She was selected as a scientist by the Government of India in 1987 and got married in the same year. After two subsequent miscarriages, God blessed her with two sons Pradeep Kumar and Praveen Kumar. Her first son earned his master’s from Carnegie Melon, Pittsburgh, and is working as a software engineer while her second son is a medic in the USA. Almost 15 years after completing her bachelor’s in Engineering, she earned master’s and Ph.D. from the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. She has written two technical books based on her Ph.D. work and has published over 70 papers in peerreviewed journals & conferences. She was sponsored by the Government of India, to undergo the Project Management and Leadership executive diploma program from I2P2M, in collaboration with George Washington University School of Business, Washington DC.
While she was doing her Ph.D., it was difficult for her to balance work and life, mainly due to the mounting marital problems. Eventually, she fell into a deep depression. She felt like she was riding a roller coaster in the dark and felt lifeless, empty, and sleepless. Born a Christian, it seemed like even God abandoned her, with no answers to her fervent prayers for two long decades. Self-pity, bitterness, hurt, and questions began to taunt her. “Is God fair? Why is the all-loving, all-powerful, and all-knowing God, not coming to her rescue?” These questions kept pounding her heart and she wished for death every moment.Around that time, she developed a high temperature, which turned into severe pneumonia. When she was admitted to Mallya hospital Bangalore in March 2004, one of her lungs became dysfunctional. Antibiotics could not save her other lung, too, and she was put on a ventilator. In a desperate situation vacillating between life and death, God intervened in a dramatic manner. A supernatural presence was felt at the ICU; she saw the Cross and the Blood of Jesus Christ washing away all her sins. She heard a divine voice saying to her thrice – “I am giving you a new life.” All the five days on the ventilator, she felt the strong presence of God engulfing her. God healed her physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
We fail in our search for intimacy for we fail to find intimacy with the ONE who created us in His image of perfect intimacy
You are a victor and not a victim as you shall overcome all evil by the encompassing love of God
During her period of recovery, something within woke her early morning, prompting her to read the Bible. So, she started to read her red Gideon Bible that remained closed for many years. The Words of the Bible came alive and made the Presence of God very real to her. She understood that she had a supreme value in God’s eyes, and the Creator of the Universe had been pursuing and protecting her all through her pains with unending love. Realizing the power of the Lord over everything in life, she experienced victory over every fear. With a broken marriage, shattered dreams, and fragile support, the promises of God from Isaiah 54 became her strength. She understood that only through the Grace of God, she could become a victorious person and not just a survivor. Early-morning prayer and Bible reading became a prioritized routine for her sustenance. God healed her from her post-traumatic stress disorder and knee pain by His grace. She completed Master of Divinity at SABC, Bangalore as the first distance-learning student, and Masters in Christian Studies from Madras University and also Apologetics training from RCCA, India. She obtained her certification in counseling from Word of Life, Witchita, USA, for counseling abuse and alcohol victims.
As an aerospace engineer, she is fascinated by the origin of the universe, and intrigued by the sheer vastness of the universe, the fine-tuning of nature’s laws and constants to support intelligent life. Many scientists like Stephen Hawking and Richard Dawkins have concluded that the world with complex biological life came into existence by chance and that there is no need for God’s hypothesis. But her research findings are diametrically opposite to such atheistic views. Although human existence is insignificant compared to the dimensions of the universe, the design of the universe conveys the impression that it was specifically created for our existence. To bring out this fact, she is engaged in making a series of video documentaries called the Grand Cosmic Story, which speaks on the origin, vastness, and the design of the universe, as well as the complexities of biological life on earth. Also she is on the process of bringing out a Science-fiction novel called The Perfect Accident.
Age is never a constraint to live out God's purpose for your life
'For I will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst,' says the Lord
